Summer 2026 Nail Care: 7 Ways to Protect Your Set in the Heat
Summer in the Triad is hot, humid, and full of pool days. Here's how to make sure your nails survive the season.
1. Rinse after the pool
Chlorine dries out gel polish and can cause lifting. A quick rinse with fresh water after swimming helps.
2. Sunscreen before polish
Oily sunscreen can prevent gel from curing properly if you apply it right before your appointment. Wash your hands well before you come in.
3. Keep cuticle oil in your bag
Heat and AC both dry out your nail beds. A small rollerball of cuticle oil is your best friend.
4. Avoid peak sun during fills
If you walk out with fresh gel, it can feel warm or slightly tacky in direct sunlight. Give it a few minutes before heading out into the blazing sun.
5. Wear gloves for gardening
Soil and moisture are a fast track to lifting and stained polish.
6. Book a gel top-up
If you're traveling or have a beach trip, a fresh top coat adds another week of protection.
7. Don't skip your fill
Sweat and sunscreen residue can build up around the cuticle. Regular fills keep everything sealed and clean.
