How to Pick the Right Nail Shape for Your Hands

July 8, 2026 4 min read

The right nail shape can make your fingers look longer, your polish look cleaner, and your set feel more "you." Here's how to choose.

Round

The classic low-maintenance shape. Rounded edges are less likely to break or snag, making this ideal if you work with your hands or have weak nails.

Square

Clean, sharp edges with a flat top. Great for shorter nails and a polished, professional look. Can be less comfortable on very long nails.

Almond

Tapered sides with a rounded point. Universally flattering and one of our most requested shapes. It elongates the fingers without the drama of stiletto.

Coffin / Ballerina

A tapered shape with a flat, squared-off tip. Bold and modern. Best on longer nails and ideal for statement art.

Stiletto

A sharp, dramatic point. High fashion but high maintenance — not ideal if you type a lot or have kids.

Oval

A softer, elongated version of round. Elegant and works on almost every hand shape.

Which should you pick?

  • Short natural nails? Round or square.
  • Want length without high maintenance? Almond or oval.
  • Want a bold, Instagram-worthy look? Coffin or stiletto.

Still unsure? Ask your tech at the start of your appointment. We shape to your finger length, nail bed, and daily routine.
